Dark mode, DBML diagrams and MiniMax in DiagramaHub

Version 0.5 redesigns navigation and adds full dark mode, DBML support, the MiniMax provider and a more reliable AI chat.

If you spend hours designing architectures, the interface matters as much as the diagram language. Version 0.5.0 is a major UX redesign: new navigation, dark mode across the whole app, a new language for modeling databases, and a fifth AI provider.

New navigation

The sidebar is now collapsible and holds navigation, the theme toggle and the language selector. Along with it we reorganized a few things:

  • Projects has its own page, with a table view.
  • The "AI" section is now called Settings, with a gear icon.
  • Logout moved to the Profile page.

The dashboard changed too: a donut chart, an AI usage widget and your recent diagrams, so you can pick up where you left off in one click.

Real dark mode

Dark mode covers the entire app: pages, modals and the editor. For the code editor we added the Kiro Dark Monaco theme, plus a project breadcrumb and a resizable code panel.

DBML: your database schema as code

DBML (Database Markup Language) joins Mermaid, PlantUML and D2. It renders through Kroki on your own infrastructure, just like PlantUML and D2, so your schema never goes to a public service. Here's a simple model:

Table users {
  id integer [pk]
  email varchar [unique]
}

Table diagrams {
  id integer [pk]
  user_id integer [ref: > users.id]
  title varchar
}

Tables, columns and relationships in a handful of lines, versioned right next to your code.

MiniMax and updated models

We added MiniMax as an AI provider, with the same BYOL (Bring Your Own LLM) model as always: you use your own API key. You can pick MiniMax-M2.7 or MiniMax-M2.5.

We also refreshed the catalog with DeepSeek v4 and Gemini 3.1. If a diagram had a saved model that its provider has since retired, DiagramaHub automatically falls back to a current one instead of failing.

A more reliable AI chat

The chat got several improvements you'll notice in long conversations:

  • A persistent rolling summary of the session, so the model doesn't lose track.
  • A code-first response format, with fallbacks to extract the diagram from the reply.
  • <think> tags from reasoning models like DeepSeek and MiniMax no longer show up in the chat.
  • The response token limit went from 2048 to 4096.
  • Prompts now include Kroki's rendering context.

And the "Fix with AI" button now lives in the code panel and works on render errors too, not just syntax errors. Kroki errors, by the way, are now shown in a readable format.

Polish and security in the patches

The patch releases that followed keep the work going:

  • 0.5.1 adds skeleton loading states, guided empty states that point you to the next step, and a mobile-first editor layout: code and description panels in swipeable bottom sheets, a bottom toolbar, and pinch-to-zoom on the diagram.
  • 0.5.2 is a security release: we updated frontend dependencies (axios, jspdf, react-router-dom, mermaid and easymde) to resolve critical and high vulnerabilities reported by Snyk, and joined the Snyk Secure Developer Program for Open Source for continuous monitoring.

Try it

Turn on dark mode and create your first DBML diagram on DiagramaHub Cloud, or update your instance from the repository. The full list of changes is in the changelog.
